Bio

One thing that can be said about Victor “VC” Caldwell is that he does everything! Literally. He is a GRAMMY® award-winning and jazz and gospel music producing hit-maker, acclaimed jazz bassist, pianist, arranger, writer, a degreed audio engineer, highly touted studio session musician, educator, long-standing AFofM music union member, and he even sings.  VC’s mission as a musician is to raise the standard of excellence in musical, technological, and production arenas, which he has done and continues to find new ways to accomplish.

After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University, Victor worked at the famed LSI studio in Nashville as a staff engineer, and later joined his brother Cedric an acclaimed jazz and gospel musician to form Caldwell Plus Productions; and was signed to MCA records. As a production team, they would have major success and produce some of the most artistically demanding artists in the business. This list included the likes of Take 6, Chante Moore, Bobby Brown, BeBe & CeCe Winans, the late Andrae Crouch, and the phenomenal Whitney Houston. Additionally, VC has worked with CeCe Winans' on her gold Grammy-winning album "Alone In His Presence," Donnie McClurkin's breakthrough singles "Stand" and "Speak To My Heart." He's also produced songs for T.D. Jakes, The Clark Sisters, Smokie Norful, Brandy, The Winans, and many others.  With such a list, it is no wonder that the duo has received an armful of accolades and gold records over the length of their career.

VC has not only blessed musicians with amazing arrangements and production, but he has also been an integral part of music that has graced some of the world's biggest box office movie productions. With a discography of more than 40+ smash hit records, VC is credited with working on film projects like The Bodyguard movie soundtrack, which featured Whitney Houston’s “Jesus Loves Me.” Other movie soundtracks include TD Jakes's “Not Easily Broken”, “Jumping The Broom,” “Touch Of Faith,” “Reggie’s Prayer,” “Spirit Of A Champion,'' and Yolanda Adams on the soundtrack for the movie “Farewell.”

In June 2020, VC produced his debut album, Hide Me, taken from the Bible's Psalm 64 on Moore Caldwell Plus Records. This single and album include critically acclaimed musicians Dee Dee Holt, Paul Jackson, Jr., Ralph Lofton, Ruby Camille, Crystal Taliefero, and Kirk Whalum.

VC is constantly producing A-list talent, mixing, and mastering amazing projects, and working on his next solo release. With all that he has done, he knows he needs to keep going because as he says “you know, it’s another thing that you need to do because you’ve been called to do it.”
